Sunday, June 7 was a perfect day for a March; not a cloud in the sky, plenty of sunshine, and the occassional cooling breeze. Thousands of LGBTQ people, and our supporters, gathered in New Paltz to celebrate our diversity, to share our history, and to promote positive visibility of LGBTQ people in the Hudson Valley.
Our theme this year centered on marriage equality and fighting for our civil rights. When we say, "Love=Love," we claim our rights to marriage and to live our lives enjoying the same rights and privileges as non-LGBTQ citizens. In keeping with our theme, we chose two diverse families as our Grand Marshals:
Peri and Tamela Rainbow-Sloan and their daughter Cecilia
Karen and Rex Butt and their daughter Cadence
The March Coordinators, Michelle DeDominicis and Retts Scauzillo, the March Lineup Organizer, Bonnie Wagner, and the Center's Board of Directors wish to thank all of the volunteers who helped to make this one of our most successful Pride celebrations.
